I have a BA Hons in English Language and Literature (First Class), which gives me both an extensive knowledge of correct register and form and an excellent command of academic style. ###Relevant Background Having volunteered with a college Tutoring Scheme during my undergraduate degree, I decided to complete a certificate in teaching English to speakers of other languages (CELTA). I am now an experienced teacher, having taught for a number of months in a well-established Language School in Cambridge, UK. I am not only accurate and highly proficient in correcting syntax, grammar and style and ensuring consistent textual formatting but also in improving and teaching formal, academic English. However, my time as a teacher has prepared me to teach for a wider range of purposes, including English for business and informal situations. I have had experience teaching students, from across the world, including China, and undertaking one-to-one tutorials and exam preparation with a Chinese student. I am familiar the types of mistakes that some Chinese speakers can make, when translating into English. During my experience as an English Language teacher, I really enjoyed working in a culturally-aware and international working environment. I, therefore, look forward to being part of another internationally minded team, improving global communication. I’m an independent worker, who knows the importance of keeping to deadlines and being prepared. I’ve always loved learning languages myself (I have a diploma in Modern Standard Arabic) and I’m very happy helping people improve their communication skills, in ways which are tailored to the client’s needs. I see this editing opportunity as part of my professional development as an English Language Teaching Professional.
