●推荐信的格式要清晰

格式没有固定要求，上网搜寻自己喜欢的模板即可。

●推荐信最好加上推荐人所在机构的抬头（学校、公司抬头）

申香港地区Letterhead不强制，有最好，更显正式；申请英国，部分学校明确要求推荐信要有letterhead哦。同理，推荐人邮箱最好是学校域名或公司域名（xxxx@edu），有最好！

●推荐信的篇幅尽量保持在一页内

如果略超，可以通过调整字体、行距、页边距等方式来控制在一页内。谨记“一分钟原则”：招生官阅读一个申请者所有材料的平均时间在5-7分钟，其中约有1分钟的时间来看你的推荐信，因此推荐信篇幅不宜过长

●要多维度地展现自己的能力与品质

如intelligence/Talent；Diligence；Teamwork；Leadership；其他与申请方向相关的技能品质。最好刻画2种以上能力品质，分别辅以实例说明哦。

●不要一直用she/he作主语开头，罗列申请者的表现

应适当插入I xxxx。毕竟推荐信要反映推荐人的主观想法，I think/I believe/I feel/I insist/In my opinion后面的内容非常有必要

举例：

From xxxx to xxx (关于具体职责的描述), she never failed to fulfill her duties satisfactorily. I appreciate her strong work ethic and team spirit, and most importantly, her desire to pursue excellence.
Besides, in my dialogue with her, I also knew that she taught herself Python in order to better complete her task of data cleansing. It did impress me a lot. I would say that she had contributed much to the final second prize we won.

●不要堆砌了一堆溢美之词，却没有实例来支撑。

实例才是血肉，是精华。如果你的推荐信充满了抽象的概括和无法定性的东西，缺少实例和数据，那么招生官无法衡量推荐人做出的这些陈述是否与其标准相同

反例：

Xxxx has been a dedicated student who stands out among his peers for his ambition and enthusiasm. He took part in several internships during his free periods at college since last year to improve his hands-on abilities.
He has a good sense of time management and can handle his studies and internships at the same time. More importantly, xxxx is very clear about his direction of career development, and he strives for where his interest locates in.

说了这么多，只传达了一个信息：该生能兼顾学习和实习。

其他的描述都流于表面：his ambition and enthusiasm是什么？his direction of career development是什么？he strives for where his interest locates in是什么？

好一堆套话。

正例：

Xxxx first distinguished herself from the rest because of her strong adaptive ability. Her position, one that involved managing the business data and utilizing the data resource, had not much in common with her previous work. Yet, she soon fit herself in through consulting the seniors and paying extra efforts for self-study. As I could recall, when she was assigned to be responsible for a kick-off meeting as a new comer, instead of being overwhelmed, xxx managed to familiarize herself with the procedure and successfully hold the large-scale meeting for us finally. I have witnessed the work ethic and tough character that she demonstrated in doing so.

内容很饱和，信息传达到位。

既有具体事例，又总结了品质：通过对position的介绍来佐证申请人的strong adaptive ability；通过申请人组织kick-off meeting的经历来凸显其work ethic and tough character

●不要为了title去找和你毫无交集的推荐人

ta是院长、是和你沾亲带故的某某协会会长，但和你没有任何交集，碍于情面答应了你的请求，可是推荐信能写啥呢？大概只能写第2点里的溢美之词了。在推荐人的选择上，我永远主张：熟悉度>title，当然两者兼备是最好的。

●不要事无巨细

推荐信应该是老师的口吻。什么事情老师应该知道、什么事情老师不应该知道，要做区分。比如，“该生经常在宿舍楼道学习到半夜”，这老师就不太可能知道老师的口吻是成熟的，不要在推荐心里露出学生的视角
