爱丁堡大学—环境与社会方向PhD

该项目组由生态学家，人文地理学家，地理信息系统专家，政治学者，遥感专家和人类学家组成。主要致力于研究人，环境与技术的关系，并通过跨领域研究来分析各种环境与社会问题的根源及动态。

该项目组目前主要进行4个领域的研究：

环境治理（environmental governance）
地球观测与空间分析（earth observation and spatial analysis）
生态系统服务（ecosystem services）
社会生态和社会技术系统（socio-ecological and socio-technical systems ）

录取要求

2:1本科学位，就读Social Science的一般要求再读一年的Master degree
7.0 in IELTS
申请前需要套磁导师，并且在申请系统中必须identify potential supervisor,否则申请不被受理。

费用

学费：每年约£21,000.
Funding:

a.Funded projects:目前与赫尔辛基大学合作的一个funded project (focuses on the carbon-climate interactions of boreal forests.) DDL: 2020.10.31

b.Principal’s Career Development PhD Scholarships：开放给UK,EU和国际生，2020entry 3个名额，cover学费及每年£15,500的生活补贴，提供3年。

c.Edinburgh Global Research Scholarship (International Fees) ：开放给国际生，每年2个名额，额度是国际生学费与本土生学费的差额。

d.其它，比如CSC。

01 Prof David Reay

Professor of Carbon Management & Education.

研究方向：

Studies climate change and its interaction with greenhouse gas fluxes in managed and natural ecosystems around the world. Much of his work focuses on how changing land use can either exacerbate or mitigate future climate change, and how land use can be made more resilient to the future impacts of climate change.

02 Prof Iain Woodhouse

Professor of Applied Earth Observation

Radar Remote Sensing; Lidar remote sensing; Multispectral lidar; Forests; Ecosystem Services; Malawi; Polar Decomposition Methods for Visualising SAR Data; Novel Visualisation Techniques for the Analysis of Multichannel Remote Sensing Data; Synergistic Remote Sensing of Vegetation; Macroecology and Telemacroscopics.

03 Prof Andrew Dugmore

Professor of Geosciences.

研究方向：

Andy Dugmore studies long term records of environments and archaeology to understand the dynamics of complex socio-ecological systems- what creates resilience (for whom, at what cost and for how long), and why do threshold-crossing events take place?

04 Dr Anthony Newton

Senior Lecturer.

研究方向：

Anthony’s research is centred around development and application of tephrochronology and online resources. This includes understanding human impact and interaction with the environment since Icelandic settlement 1200 years ago.
